Kangaroo Pocket

For those who love animals very much and denounce the clothes made of animal skin or fur, kangaroo hoodie must sound awful and disturbing, at first. Who would dare to waste such a rare and unique animal for a hooded sweater? On the other hand, some may laugh, thinking that this hoodie could have been made for a poor freezing kangaroo in some poorly heated zoo and was, therefore, called a kangaroo hoodie. The truth is none of these guesses are right, except that there is a connection of a harmless sort between the hoodie and the animal it was named after. The kangaroo hoodie was named this way because of the design of its wide front pocket, resembling the front skin pocket, marsupium, of the Australian kangaroo.
Here is how a typical kangaroo hooded jacket looks –a hip-length fleece jacket with the raglan or set-in sleeves, whole or separated front belly pocket, and a hood with a drawstring. Front belly pocket is made in the form of a trapezoid - sewn on the top and bottom and leaving sides open to insert hands. If a hoodie is designed with the front zipper, then the front pocket is naturally separated into two compartments. If the hooded sweater is made in the form of the pullover jacket, then its wide front belly pocket looks very similar to the kangaroo’s pouch.
Nature was and continues to be the greatest inspiration among all for creative people such as artists, actors, engineers, and designers. Everything that people build or design takes its colors, shapes, proportions, and symmetry from the Mother Nature. Kangaroo hoodie is one of many examples created by people, fascinated with the beauty around them.
Besides the unique design of the kangaroo hooded jacket, people enjoy wearing kangaroo hoodies for their warmth and comfort, as these fleece jackets are usually made of natural materials such as cotton or wool.
